ELEANOR ESTES (), a children's librarian for many years, launched her writing career with the publication of The Moffats in Two of her books about the Moffats are Newbery Honor books, as is The Hundred Dresses. She won the Newbery Medal for Ginger Pye in The Moffats is a sweet and simple episodic novel and would be a great book to highlight how this type of plot is put together. I love the family in this book: the hardworking mom, the adventurous, hardworking and respectful children, the way of life, and the old fashioned (and wonderful!) ideals.4/5. Moffats review My children enjoyed this book overall. At times they did not understand all of the words due to the year it was written. The language is a little older at times. A children’s librarian for many years, she launched her writing career with the publication of The Moffats in Two of her outstanding books about the Moffats—Rufus M. and The Middle Moffat—were awarded /5(23). The Moffats is an enchanting book. I am not finished yet but am pretty far. From what I have read I love it. It reminds me of The Betsy~Tacy series if you know of them. If you've read that series you'll love this one. I plan to read them all!5/5(5).

Old-fashioned family fun, the Moffats turn mistakes and mischief into adventure at every turn! Sylvie, the eldest is (primarily) the most responsible one; Joey, (sometimes) acts like the man of the house; Janey looks at the world upside-down; and Rufus may be the smallest, but often gets in the biggest trouble! pages, softcover. The Moffats () by Brand: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.   About the Book ** Description from Amazon: Meet the Moffats. There is Sylvie, the oldest, the cleverest, and-most days at least-the responsible one; Joey, who though only twelve is the man of the housesometimes; Janey, who has a terrific upside-down way of looking at the world; and Rufus, who may be the littlest but always gets in the. In a way that Eleanor Estes compares this book to her "The Moffats" book you can tell that Rufus Moffat is a completely different 7-year-old boy you would've thought he would be compared to athis book all about him and "The Moffats" which introduces our lively and fascinating family /5(6).
